CONTENT OF TELEVISION

INTRODUCTION:

Television (TV) is a widely used telecommunication medium for transmitting and receiving moving images, either monochromatic ("black and white") or color, usually accompanied by sound. "Television" may also refer specifically to a television set, television programming or television transmission. The word is derived from mixed Latin and Greek roots, meaning "far sight": Greek tele (τῆλε), far, and Latin visio, sight (from video, vis- to see, or to view in the first person).

Commercially available since the late 1930s, the television set has become a common communications receiver in homes, businesses and institutions, particularly as a source of entertainment and news. Since the 1970s the availability of video cassettes, laserdiscs, DVDs and now Blu-ray discs, have resulted in the television set frequently being used for viewing recorded as well as broadcast material.

Although other forms such as
closed-circuit television are in use, the most common usage of the medium is for broadcast television, which was modeled on the existing radio broadcasting systems developed in the 1920s, and uses high-powered radio-frequency transmitters to broadcast the television signal to individual TV receivers.
Broadcast TV is typically disseminated via
radio transmissions on designated channels in the 54-890 megahertz frequency band[1]. Signals are now often transmitted with stereo and/or surround sound in many countries. Until the 2000s broadcast TV programs were generally recorded and transmitted as an analog signal, but in recent years public and commercial broadcasters have been progressively introducing digital television broadcasting technology.
A standard television set comprises multiple internal
electronic circuits, including those for receiving and decoding broadcast signals. A visual display device which lacks a tuner is properly called a monitor, rather than a television. A television system may use different technical standards such as digital television (DTV) and high-definition television (HDTV). Television systems are also used for surveillance, industrial process control, and guiding of weapons, in places where direct observation is difficult or dangerous.
Advantages / disadvantages:
I think, the most important advantage of television is that it is a huge source of informations, knowledge and entertainment. There are plenty of channels with different topics. It provides every kind of information and entertainment: great films, shows, documentaries, science programs, cartoons and so on. You can watch the newest informations from all the world, it helps you to be up-to-date. You only have to turn on your tv-set and you can get some news. Sometimes it is very convenient. Watching television can be also great way to spend a free time. There are some really interesting programs about for example our hobbies. It can by also good way to spend evening, watching curious films. From the other hand, there are also many disadvantages on watching television.
From the other hand, there are also many disadvantages on watching television. It become to be very popular and common. Almost everyone has his own tv-set. People spend to much time watching stupid programs and shows. They become a slaves of 21' black box. You can't talk with them about anything isn't connected with television. Their life is depend on tv-schedule. The whole families watches television eating dinner, sapper, spending their free time in this way. Instead of going to the park, wood, to the lake or for a trip.Nowadays there is many violence on tv. Jung children are watching full of violence and brutality cartoons and movies. They spend whole day siting in front of screen. Every tv-station broadcasts many commercials, the movies are being interrupted and we are watching commercials for few minutes.
We also have to single out the really interesting programs and movies because there is many stupid and boring programs.I have show only a few features of television. Of course it is only a small part. Watching television can give us many positives things like news, entertainment and knowledge but it can by also dangerous. I watch very rarely television, generally only eating my breakfast or sapper. I am not interested in informations from the world and I have much better ways to spend my free time
IMPORTANCE:

First of all, there are many different types of programmes on television that are useful. The viewer can watch a weather report to prepare for the day. Cartoons and sport provide relaxation and fun. School programmes, documentaries and the news teach us about the world. And advertisements inform us about products and new ideas.
Secondly, the content is relevant because it is realistic and up to date. As TV is a medium that combines moving, colour images and sound, it resembles real life, so the viewers can identify with what they see. Furthermore, modern technology means that the content is up to date, for example, news reports can be broadcast live and from all over the world. This means that information is available almost anywhere at any time.
Finally, TV can be used to enhance many important aspects of everyday life. People seek entertainment and distraction, and TV can give us that in the form of films or cartoons. People want education, information and instruction because they are inquisitive and like to learn. TV gives us these in documentaries or educational programmes, in reports or cultural magazines. People enjoy creativity, and TV gives us that in the work of all the people involved in creating clever film scripts, effective scenery, witty dialogues or magnificent camera shots. TV gives us the world, other cultures, other people, languages and ideas. It introduces us to knowledge.
